My family and I hiked down to the Boulder River in Southern Montana. The kids skipped from rock to rock and I did some quick paintings. I found myself captured by the deep blue of the water and all the reflections and light playing on the rocks from the water. Back home in the studio I used my plein air studies to paint this bigger work.
